Zoe Paul
I have an interest in the exotic and the connotations it holds, from the traditional meanings of tropical islands to the contemporary ideas of diversity in time, space and the everyday.
My process is very making driven and this is how I explore my ideas. I make drawings and large-scale objects. I work with a wide range of materials such as fiber glassing, papier-mache, ready-mades, plaster, and wood. Recently I have been using marble effect ceramic tiles, an impoverished everyday material, to parody the values of traditional marble in classical Hellenistic sculpture.
