I love watching television. The more extreme and cliched the better! Most of all I love period dramas, for their extravagant, fantastical and self indulgent portrayal of romance.

I have made a movie that displays a range of cliches seen in period drama. With Englishness as my material, i’ve used my girly poshness to enact the ultimate feminine role: The role of the lost woman, forever a damsel in distress. The humour of self parody is very important as it is a tongue in cheek celebration of amateurish British dramas. It is also a reflection of the audience of this genre of television; an audience that largely reflects the stereotype on screen; middle England, middle class and white.
