Daisy Janes

I use iconic figures from popular films and recreate them with lesser, pathetic traits. Creating anti climatic and honest representations, I strip the icon to its bare aesthetic qualities. This redefines the role it plays as a hero, monster or victim.

My work involves the process of plastering and experimentation. Tinted plaster with a ‘dirty Disney’ palette, swatches of luxe material, synthetic bedraggled hair and magnifying lenses, form the foundations from which my sculptures evolve.

I use plaster as a tangible, physical matter, encasing objects with its concrete reality but otherworldly plasmatic qualities.
