Thus what follows is actually just a series of random ideas arising mainly from my own work (1):

People want to be bored, they want to see the same picture again and again, never anything different (2). It’s predictable, but people still want to wait for the moment. It’s like a wheel of fortune, only the results are always the same (3). I thought maybe that if you take humour and think the funniness away then the leftovers are interesting. It’s not the joke itself, but it’s what’s happening there when you see a joke (4)… and as for structuralist art, yeah, half the things I make are about the medium they exist on (5). Equally, I’m an advocate of an art that’s smart enough to be dumb (6).
