Plant-fibre based objects has been the focus of my recent studies in conservation. My final project, a large piece of Barkcloth c.1910 from Samoa (pictured below) draws on practice in paper conservation to support areas of damage with materials of a similar nature.

An earlier work placement in Auckland Museum, New Zealand increased my interest in Pacific and Maori cultures. The history of objects, including my final project, reveal indigenous practices which can affect the way in which an object might be treated, interpretted and displayed.
