Cassava Plastic

I am interested in materials, their processes, lifetime, their forms and uses. For this project I designed and explored constructing my own biodegradable and sustainable material, learning along the way its behaviour, limitations and advantages.

One of the main ingredients in it is cassava; a woody shrub native to South America. I have mixed it with other edible natural products.

My current design is based on the theme of relaxation and spa, to create harmony within the body and mind. My pieces which are inspired by fluid forms and organic shapes can influence the space and provide a calm and soothing ambience.

Each piece or panel can be as individual as the holder due to the material being handmade and the colour scheme can be adapted. The Cassava plastic is complimented by lighting as it spreads through its transparency, highlighting colours and forms.
