BA (Hons) 3D Design

The Three Dimensional Design course at Camberwell equips students with the knowledge and skill to make objects using a wide range of materials and processes, and to be able to critically discuss the context of the objects they make.

We are not a traditional craft course, but expect high levels of craftsmanship. We are not a fine art course but embrace conceptual ideas. We are not an industrial design course but students learn how to produce objects using moulds, jigs and other manufacturing techniques.

We deal with the making of objects and their meaning. The work usually has a function, but the emphasis is often on the poetic as well as the practical. Examples include furniture, jewellery, tableware, lighting, clothing and accessories. Students can produce one off pieces, editions or designs intended for production.
